Crown Paints has underlined its commitment to providing exceptional service to specifiers with a key appointment. Barry Kirkland has joined the British manufacturer as national specification manager.

The 39-year-old will oversee a team of 22 people, helping decision-makers, including architects, contractors and interior designers choose fit-for-purpose coatings that deliver superb results, performance and value.

Barry joins Crown Paints from Icopal and has a strong track record in specifier collaboration. His appointment is the latest in a series of moves by Crown Paints to offer specifiers industry-leading advice regardless of the size or complexity of project.

Barry said: "I’m thrilled to be joining the Crown Paints’ team. It’s a UK manufacturer with a lot of heritage, credibility and experience, as well as a growing reputation as an industry leader in terms of its approach to sustainability – and that all really appealed to me."

"The company also understands the importance of delivering a personal touch to specification services, with a focus on listening to customers and solving their issues to reach the right outcome."

"Projects may require extensive use of specialist coatings, or more mainstream products may be more suitable – either way it’s our job to produce tailor-made schemes, that offer a high performance and sustainable choice, without any compromise on quality."

News of Barry’s appointment comes just days after Crown Paints launched an online resource centre to deliver instant and technically-detailed specification plans to architectural, construction, FM and property professionals.

PaintSpec Finder™ generates tailor-made, accurate specifications in an accessible format regardless of the scale or nature of the project. Its launch at www.crownpaintspec.co.uk highlights Crown Paints’ continued investment in specification support services and transforms the delivery of the company’s existing Master Spec concept.

Barry added: "Initiatives like PaintSpec Finder™ are great news for the specification sector and I’m delighted to be joining Crown Paints at such an exciting time."

Barry’s appointment comes ahead of Crown Paints’ appearance at sustainable design and construction show Ecobuild 2012, and the new recruit has already hosted a show preview. To see the film, visit www.youtube.com/crownpaintsecobuild.
