The UK’s University of Manchester started the tender process for a development and investment partner for the £1.5bn ($1.65bn) ID Manchester project.
ID Manchester will serve as a ‘trailblazing neighbourhood’ and can potentially create more than 6,000 new jobs.
ID Manchester is next to Piccadilly Railway Station and a 20-minute train journey away from the city’s international airport.
Real estate developer Iulius Company and Atterbury Europe opened the €327m ($359m) Iulius Town mixed-use project in Timisoara, Romania.
Developed around an existing shopping mall called Iulius Mall Timisoara, Iulius Town features retail, office and entertainment facilities.
With €327m already invested in the mixed-use project, the companies now plan to allocate the remainder of the total €442m ($485.5m) to meet the construction costs of the United Business Center, which is the highest office building in the country with a height of 155m.

New York Islanders begun the construction of the 19,000-seat arena, which is a centrepiece of the $1.3bn Belmont Park Redevelopment in the US.
To be used for the New York Islanders hockey matches and other events, the arena’s construction works are expected to be finalised for the 2021-2022 hockey season.
The Belmont redevelopment project was announced in December 2017. It will transform 43 acres of underused parking lots at Belmont Park into a sports and hospitality destination.
The Scottish Government announced it will contribute £2m in funding to support the major refurbishment project of the Paisley Museum.

The construction of the 356m-tall tower began in 2012. The structure marks a ‘landmark evolution’ in Sri Lanka’s telecommunication industry, according to the president.

The HALO Urban Regeneration Company awarded a multimillion contract to Morrison Construction for Phase 1 of the Enterprise and Innovation Hub project in Kilmarnock, Scotland.
The £63m brownfield urban regeneration project will be built on the 23-acre site that previously housed Scotch whisky brand Johnnie Walker.
Morrison Construction managing director Eddie Robertson said: ‘‘We are delighted to be appointed the main contractor to build the Enterprise and Innovation Hub, a development that will revitalise the town centre and support the wider Ayrshire economy.”
Construction firm Mace was selected to lead the refurbishment, fit-out and rooftop extension of the former headquarters of HSBC.
Mace will redevelop 78 St James’s Street in London, UK, for Canadian investment company BentallGreenOak.
Created by architectural firm Squire and Partners, the scheme will provide 110,000ft² of office space. It will also feature a pavilion extension and rear rooftop terraces with views across Westminster and Green Park.
