The Royal Commission for Riyadh City (RCRC) has selected Riyadh Metro Transit Consultants (RMTC), a joint venture (JV) led by Parsons together with Systra and Egis, to deliver project and construction management services for the Riyadh Metro Red Line Extension.
Under its newly awarded remit, RMTC will oversee the Red Line expansion, extending from King Saud University to Diriyah South.

The extension measures 8.4km, with 1.3km constructed as an elevated track and the remaining 7.1km running underground.
Plans detail five stations along the extension, including two elevated stations and three underground facilities.
The Red Line extension forms part of wider efforts to expand Riyadh’s public transport network, aiming to improve links between key districts, residential neighbourhoods, and major institutions such as cultural, educational and healthcare centres.
According to Parsons, the extension is aligned with objectives outlined in Saudi Vision 2030 to address transport challenges, reduce commute times and support a more sustainable urban environment in the fast-growing capital.
Parsons infrastructure EMEA president Pierre Santoni said: “We are honoured to continue working on the Riyadh Metro, a transformative project that is redefining urban mobility in the Kingdom’s capital and enhancing quality of life.
“As a proud long-term partner of the RCRC, and the lead consultant for the delivery of this world-class system, we look forward to supporting the city of Riyadh and the Kingdom in successfully completing this extension and future phases of the metro, leveraging our global expertise and deep local knowledge to drive excellence at every stage of delivery.”
RMTC’s involvement in the Riyadh Metro project dates back to 2013, when it supported delivery of the network’s first phase, including the Red, Blue and Orange Lines.
Parsons reports that it has contributed to rail and transit projects in more than 50 countries, including major projects across the Gulf region.
The broader Riyadh Metro network was inaugurated in November 2024 and remains central to the city’s public transport infrastructure.
In June 2026, the RCRC launched the fourth phase of its Main and Ring Road Axes Development Programme in Riyadh, allocating SR9.8bn ($2.6bn) for the scheme.
