The new hospital is a central component of the ongoing modernisation of healthcare facilities in Schaffhausen.
It is intended to support locally accessible care and provide patients and staff with facilities designed to meet current needs.
The new building will include operating theatres, an accident and emergency department, an intensive care unit, a central outpatient clinic, a maternity ward and inpatient facilities. Patient rooms will be adaptable for single or double occupancy.
Implenia division buildings head Adrian Wyss said: “We are delighted to have earned the trust of Schaffhausen Hospitals.
“Drawing on our experience and expertise in large and complex healthcare properties, we will work together with the client and our partners to deliver a modern new hospital building tailored to the needs of patients and staff. This contract also confirms our strong position in the strategically important healthcare sector.”
The company confirmed that, once the appeal period expires and no appeals are filed, further planning and preparatory work for the new hospital will proceed.
Construction is scheduled to commence in summer 2027.
Implenia has identified large-scale projects in healthcare, research and laboratory construction as a strategic focus, with several comparable projects already completed.
Previous assignments include the Aarau Cantonal Hospital’s ‘Dreiklang’ building, Felix Platter Hospital in Basel, and the Women’s and Children’s Clinic at Lucerne Cantonal Hospital, among others.
In June 2026, the Swedish Transport Administration, Trafikverket, awarded Implenia the contract to build the E16 Korsvägen station in Gothenburg as part of the West Link (Västlänken) infrastructure development.
