Viracon, the country’s leading single-source architectural glass fabricator, is known for supplying glass to some of the world’s most iconic buildings, from the Freedom Tower in New York to Sydney’s Aurora Place to the Taipei Financial Center in Taiwan. Now, the company is teaming with Dow Corning to share expertise on super tall buildings. Together, the two companies are presenting the International Symposium for Super Tall Building Skin Technology on Friday, June 13 in Seoul, Korea.

“Super tall buildings are growing in popularity around the world,” says Joe Effertz, Director of International Sales at Viracon. “However, designing and building these structures creates special challenges for architects and building professionals. This symposium is meant to bring together experts in super high rise construction to discuss these challenges and innovative solutions.”

Presenters at the symposium include some of the leading experts in super tall building construction, including professionals from the Korea Super Tall Building Forum (KSTBF), Skidmore Owings and Merrill (SOM), Samsung E&C, Viracon, Dow Corning and Curtainwall Design and Consulting (CDC). The speakers will present on design considerations, quality control, documentation and glazing designs and applications for the super high rise construction. Following individual presentations, the program will conclude with a panel discussion.

Seoul was chosen as a location for this global gathering due to the large number of buildings in the design phase in South Korea that boast super tall status. However, architects and construction professionals from around the world are expected to attend.

“We would like to thank Dow Corning for partnering with us on this event,” says Effertz at Viracon. “We’ve been getting phone calls from architects all over the world who are planning on attending. With all of these unique perspectives, we are certain the symposium will be an informative, exciting event and a fantastic opportunity to exchange ideas.”

Sponsored by Viracon and Dow Corning, the International Symposium for Super Tall Building Skin Technology will be held on June 13 at the COEX Intercontinental Seoul.
