Morgan Sindall Construction's London business has commenced refurbishment and extension works at the University of Westminster’s 29 Marylebone Road site in the UK.

The project was procured through the PAGABO framework and involves remodelling the building on Luxborough Street.

It includes adding a roof extension to provide additional internal and external terrace floor space.

A new lift will also be installed at the property, offering access from the lower ground to the fifth floor.

The nine-storey building aims to bridge the gap between education and the business world, with a focus on accessibility, inclusivity, and sustainability.

It is intended to become the UK’s most inclusive centre for employability and enterprise and will be open to Westminster students, alumni, and the wider community, offering employer-led events, training, and networking opportunities.

The centre will feature creative spaces designed to foster collaboration with local businesses, as well as event and exhibition areas to display student enterprises and achievements.

University of Westminster vice-chancellor and president Peter Bonfield said: “It is super to have broken ground, beginning the refurbishment of the new employability hub at 29 Marylebone Road that will support our students and many from our local and wider London communities.

“The real strength of this project is the strong partnerships we have built with our local community groups, our friends and our partners who share our ambitions for this centre.”

Sindall’s carbon calculation tool, CarboniCa, is being used to monitor the development and reduce its operational carbon.

The project's sustainability features include bird and bat boxes and a green roof for the eighth floor, enhancing the building's ecological value.

Earlier this month, Sindall Construction’s Northern Home Counties division was selected to deliver a £19.1m ($23.66m) ward expansion project in England.
