Skanska has signed an agreement with Region Skåne for the construction of a new care building and a service building at the hospital in Hässleholm, Sweden.  

This project, valued at approximately Skr1.4bn ($130.43m), will be recorded in the company's order bookings for Sweden in the second quarter of this year. 

The project, which goes under the working name Forth that symbolises ‘future orthopedics in Hässleholm’, has been in the planning stages for an extended period.  

This care and service buildings are envisaged as a continuous building of about 24,000m^².  

The care building will include facilities such as reception, operating theatres, and aftercare for orthopedics, along with a sterile technology unit and administrative offices.  

The service building will accommodate laundry handling, meal storage, gas storage and a central waste facility.  

It will also provide space for staff and additional administrative premises. 

The frame of the care building will feature climate-improved concrete in both frame and cast-in-place constructions.  

The project is also striving for environmental certification under the Miljöbyggnad system. 

Preparatory work is expected to commence in the spring (March to May), with construction expected to start in April 2024.  

The completion of the buildings is projected in the first half of 2028. 

In March 2024, Skanska secured an additional contract with the University of Cincinnati (UC) in the US state of Ohio. 

This new contract, which is valued at $94m, involves the renovation and addition of a building on the university’s campus.
