BAM Energy & Water has secured a 12-year agreement with Enexis and Waterleiding Maatschappij Limburg (WML) to upgrade the electricity and water-supply networks in Limburg, Netherlands.

The deal, which is part of Enexis' neighbourhood approach programme, is valued at around €600m ($697m).

Under this agreement, BAM will oversee the renovation and upgrading of the electricity grid in Limburg, area by area, with a completion target set for the end of 2025.

In conjunction with electrification efforts, WML is partnering with BAM to ensure the local water-supply network is futureproof, focusing on efficiency and minimising disruption for residents.

BAM Energy & Water CEO Rolf te Velde said: "The energy transition and making our infrastructure more sustainable require vision, decisiveness and cooperation.

"With this agreement, we are joining forces with Enexis and WML to prepare Limburg for the future. BAM is proud to contribute as a partner to a robust and sustainable network that supports the region's growth ambitions."

BAM has indicated that it will combine the construction and renewal of energy and water infrastructure, creating synergy in planning, execution, and overall impact.

Additionally, the company said it will contribute to the recruitment, training, and development of technical personnel in Limburg, thereby enhancing its implementation capacity.

In May last year, South West Water selected BAM to deliver parts of its £2.8bn investment programme, known as the AMP 8 Engineering Capital Delivery Programme.

The contract awarded to BAM focuses on wastewater infrastructure improvements in Cornwall, England, UK.
