
Swedish construction firm Skanska has won a NOK530m ($52m) contract from Helse Sør Øst to construct a psychiatric hospital in Kristiansand, Norway.
The new healthcare facility will cover an area of 10,750m² and feature 80 beds. It will be built in accordance with energy Class A with a reduced carbon footprint.
Of the overall beds, 10 will be dedicated for child and adolescent psychiatry, outpatient care, treatment rooms and kitchen/dining room and technical rooms.
“The building is designed and developed to stimulate the health care and help provide the best treatment for patients through a “healing architecture”, good working conditions for the employees and through efficient operation,” Skanska said in a statement.
Construction on the project will commence immediately and the building is anticipated to be completed in April 2023.
Skanska will include the value of the contract in the Nordic order bookings for the second quarter of 2020.

By GlobalDataSeparately, the firm has won orders from Anglian Water and Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water for a further five years to continue into the next asset management period (AMP).
Skanska joins Morgan Sindall, MMB, Arup and Arcadis on the Dŵr Cymru Welsh Water programme, worth nearly £193m as part of the wider Alliance capital programme.
As part of the programme, Skanska will work on a range of projects to build and upgrade critical infrastructure across the water and waste treatment works, pumping stations, reservoir, dam and pipe installations.
Skanska said that its place on the @one Alliance AMP 7 framework continues the long-established partnership of more than 15 years. The framework is worth £1.7bn over five years.
Skanska joins as a prominent partner with Balfour Beatty, Mott MacDonald Bentley, Barhale, MWH and SWECO. It will work to build and upgrade water and wastewater treatment plants, as well as carrying out significant civils and mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control and automation (MEICA) work.
