British builder Persimmon Homes Essex has received approval from Tendring District Council for a new project in Clacton, England, UK.
This approved outline planning permission paves the way for the development that aims to address local housing needs.
The Rouses Farm housing development includes up to 950 new homes and community amenities.
Furthermore, the project encompasses a variety of housing options, with at least 190 homes set to be offered at below-market value for rent via a social housing partner or shared ownership.
This initiative is part of a broader strategy to make housing more accessible in the region.
In addition to residential units, the plan reserves space for a primary school and early years childcare facilities.

By GlobalDataPersimmon Homes Essex has committed to contributing financially towards educational infrastructure in the surrounding area.
The proposed Neighbourhood Centre within the development is designed to serve multiple purposes, enhancing the community feel of the new estate. This centre will become a hub for various local activities and services.
To mitigate traffic concerns, the development includes improvements at five junctions in the locality. New traffic signals will be installed at two of the junctions to streamline the flow of vehicles to and from Rouses Farm.
Two equipped play areas will be constructed for younger residents, which will be nestled within expansive green spaces.
Nearly one-third of the Rouses Farm site will be dedicated to green space.
The company is now focused on refining the details before submitting its final application for reserved matters.
Persimmon Homes Essex managing director Richard Hush said: “We’re delighted to have these initial plans approved and to be able to start planning ahead for this exciting new community. We know there is great demand for new homes in Clacton and across Tendring and we look forward to helping meet that demand.
“We’re proud of the additional benefits our scheme will offer, including opportunity for much-needed health and education facilities for the wider area.”
