Nordic community builder Peab has received a contract worth Nkr144m ($13.08m) to construct a new main water line in Lillestrøm, Norway.

Awarded by Nedre Romerike vann- og avløpsselskap, the contract is being delivered as a partnership construction contract in close collaboration with its consultants and the client.

Construction is set to begin immediately, with completion anticipated in early 2025.

Arne Olav Lund (AOL), a subsidiary of Peab, will be responsible for this project.

AOL MD Erik Hedvald Nilsen said: “We’re very happy for the opportunity to carry out this important project. A well-functioning water and wastewater network is vital to residents in the area.

“This kind of project is a good fit for us and we look forward to carrying it out efficiently, safely and sustainably.”

The company will be responsible for building a new 3.3km main water line and installing signal cables and conduits between Tomtveien and Isakbekken, situated north of Lillestrøm.

The construction method selected for this project is tunnelling with concrete pipes near one of Norway’s busiest bus stations, instead of conventional digging.

Additionally, specific resources have been allocated to minimise the impact on cultivated land.

The company will register the order in the fourth quarter of 2023.

Last week, Peab received a traditional contract to rebuild the docks in Vaxholm, Sweden.
