Paris-Sud University in France and the Platon Saclay project company have signed a €283m contract for the design, construction, operation and maintenance of the future Biology – Pharmacy – Chemistry (BPC) Centre.

To be built on the Plateau de Saclay, the 85,000m² complex is said to be a major scientific project for Paris-Sud University and the future Paris-Saclay University.

The BPC Centre is expected to be delivered in April 2022, following a year of development studies and 36 months of works, and will be installed on the 74,000m² Métro site and the 14,000m² IDEEV site.

Under the terms of the public-private partnership contract, lead company Bouygues Bâtiment Grand Ouest, Bouygues Bâtiment Nord-Est, Bouygues Bâtiment Centre Sud-Ouest, Bouygues Energies & Services and a group of 11 engineering companies will design and build the centre.

Bouygues Energies & Services FM will be responsible for building maintenance services for a period of 25 years.

The centre will incorporate research labs, teaching facilities, scientific greenhouses, insectarium and aquarium, social spaces, offices, technical areas, shared logistics zones and car parking.

The design and construction of the centre will be financed by Platon Saclay project company, which will also operate and maintain it for a 29-year period.
