US-based renewable energy developer and power producer OYA Solar has commenced construction of 25 MW DC of community solar projects in New York State.
Currently, its 7 MW DC solar project in State Route 122A in Franklin County is also under construction.
The projects will provide solar energy in Jefferson, Livingston, Onondaga, and Oswego counties, while supporting the state’s initiative to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050.
These projects are expected to produce around 895,000 MWh of power and offset around 699,000t of Co2 over the 25+ year of operations.
OYA Solar CEO and founder Manish Nayar said: “OYA Solar has an ambitious goal of becoming one of the largest constructors and operators of community solar projects that will support New York’s transition to a cleaner and more resilient energy source.
“Our strong development and construction platform has a proven track record in New York, and more broadly across the Northeast U.S. and Canada, and we embrace our role as a driver of solar energy expansion and accessibility.”
OYA Solar expects to construct another 140 MW DC of community solar projects in New York by the end of 2021.
Other than New York State, OYA Solar has finished solar projects across the Northeast US and Canada, and has a 2 GW DC pipeline of community solar and utility-scale projects.
