Westminster City Council has granted planning permission to Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC) for the redevelopment of the south-western corner of Lords cricket ground in London.
The new scheme will mark the second phase of the £200m master redevelopment plan of the famous ground, which is set to have a revamped look for the Ashes series in 2022.

Two of the old stands will be demolished as a part of the scheme, the Allen Stand, which was set up in 1935 and the Tavern Stand, which was added in the mid-1960s.
A single structure will replace the existing two stands, which will have room for 5,200 seats, an increase of 1,082 seats in total.
The plan will also lead to construction of a new Thomas Lord Building with a street-facing reception, banqueting suite, and offices for MCC staff.
The Tavern pub will also be rebuilt as part of the project, along with extensive internal improvements to the Pavilion.
Development plans also include proposals for retractable seating for match days.
However, MCC stated that the works for the project can only be initiated as early as the third quarter of 2019, as the ground needs to be available during mid-2019 for the ICC Cricket World Cup.
The first phase of the project redevelopment of the Warner Stand started in September, with BAM going ahead with demolition works. Bam is expected to complete the new stand construction in time for the 2017 season.
