Oman has selected four companies as preferred constructors for the Oman Cultural Complex project and will be expected to uphold the cultural and artistic innovations in the Middle Eastern country.
Dawood Contracting, Carillion Alawi, Galfar Engineering and Contracting, and Oman Shapoorji are the forerunners of the project, which will span a 40,000m² complex in Muscat.

The complex will feature three major buildings of national interest: the National Library, the National Archives, and the National Theatre, reported the Muscat Daily.
While the library is expected to have sufficient storage for five million books, the archive is planned as a four-storey exhibition-come-public event area with a research and administration wing.
The theatre element will have the capacity to accommodate more than 1,000 people.
Additionally, the complex will offer an Oasis Fruit Garden covered with landscaping and 1,100 palm trees, 750 fruit trees and 32,500 smaller trees and shrubs.

Setec Batiment is the engineering consultant for the project.
These four firms were selected from 25 proposals, after evaluation of their technical and financial bids. Final selection is likely to take place by the end of the year, followed by a construction contract.
The Oman Cultural Complex project is being sponsored by the Oman Ministry of Heritage and Culture (MOHC).
