Morgan Sindall has refurbished and modernised areas of the Hatherly Laboratory Building on the University of Exeter’s Streatham Campus in the UK.
As part of the £1.1m four-phase project, the biosciences building was transformed in a bid to improve and expand teaching space for the College of Life and Environmental Sciences. The contract administration and multi-disciplinary design services were delivered by Faithful+Gould.

Morgan Sindall also constructed a new modular building in the courtyard behind the building to create space for group work. In addition, a green space was created by the fitting of a sedum roof.
Project work also involved renovation of the basement and a main corridor of the existing four-storey building, as well as modernisation of the mechanical and electrical provisions for all of the refurbished areas.
University of Exeter’s senior building surveyor Andy Coleman said: "This was a very complicated project carried out in the middle of busy student teaching spaces, academic research laboratories, and the offices of academics and staff.
"We are grateful that the contractors worked hard to minimise the disruption so our world-leading research and teaching could continue uninterrupted."

By GlobalDataFurther renovation work across the university will include installation of a new ventilation system and emergency lighting installation at the Northcott Theatre.
Morgan Sindall is also undertaking refurbishment works at St Luke’s Campus on Heavitree road, which includes the replacment of the roof and windows of the student study centre at Giraffe House.
Work also includes transformation of an existing music room into a science laboratory and is planned for completion by September this year.
