UK-based developer Laing O’Rourke is to construct the $150m justice precinct at Canberra in Australia as a part of the Juris Partnership consortium.
The ACT Courts Facility will be located at the centre of the Australian capital and has been planned to be developed as the Territory’s first public private partnership.

Macquarie Capital and Programmed FM services are partners for Laing O’Rourke in the consortium, which has been picked as the preferred proponent for the project.
ACT deputy chief minister and attorney-general Simon Corbell MLA said: "The new ACT Courts Facility will accommodate the Court of Appeal, Supreme Court, Magistrates Court and Childrens Court with a four story new link building fronting Vernon Circle joining the existing Magistrates and refurbished Supreme Court buildings."
The new development will feature 18 courtrooms, with five of these fitted-out for juries.
The centre will also have separate provisions for a dedicated witness suite, interpreters’ facilities and a framework to support the hearing impaired.

By GlobalDataCorbell said: "The facility will also promote best practice facilities for witnesses and their families, with dedicated spaces for community service and domestic violence support agencies and a mediation hub with facilities capable of hosting multi-party mediations."
The project is claimed to be an ‘iconic project for Canberra’, which is expected to integrate heritage, urban design and sustainability.
Laing O’Rourke region director Mark Dimmock said: "We look forward to working in collaboration with our delivery partners and the ACT Government to deliver value for money and engineering excellence on site.
"Laing O’Rourke has delivered a wide range of social infrastructure projects here and overseas, and our teams are already working nearby as the managing contractor on the CSIRO Black Mountain consolidation project."
