Jeddah Municipality is reportedly planning the building of three new cities on its outskirts.
The proposed cities will be built around Gulf Salman, Al-Aslaa Valley, and Asfan city, reported Saudi Gazette citing Saudi Press Agency.

Jeddah Municipality spokesman Mohammad Al-Bugamy was reported by the news agency as saying that the municipality has partnered with Jeddah Development and Urban Regeneration Company for the infrastructure related works for the planned projects.
Covering three million square metres, the Gulf Salman’s residential coast project will comprise 1,250 residential buildings with 25,000 residential units, educational, religious, health, sports, recreational, and general services facilities.
Al-Bugamy said: "The area will be fully supported with all the necessary facilities and services of a model residential area.
"The infrastructure of the entire project is complete and the first stage of the project’s plan, to construct 46 residential buildings, has been implemented."
Spread across 130 million square metres, the Al-Aslaa Valley project in east Jeddah will include the recreation, education, health, and sports facilities, parks and natural reserves.
The first phase work of the industrial Asfan city is nearing completion.
Covering approximately five million square metres, the area will have 2,095 industrial facilities, 183 warehouses, 22 factories, and 385 stores and showrooms.
