ISG has secured a £21.7m scheme to upgrade and expand Walsingham House office building near Fenchurch Street Station in London.
The interiors of the eight-storey 1930s building will be almost entirely demolished and only the period Portland stone façade will be retained.

This project will see construction of steel structures and the addition of two floors. This will increase the internal office space by almost 50%, with a total area to 65,000ft2, reported Industrytoday.co.uk.
These two upper floors will include curtain walling and modern Portland stone cladding, which will complement the actual façade. The floors will be connected by three lifts and two staircases, while the basement level will be fitted with a new substation.
The façade will be restored and ISG intends to upgrade with high-performance glazing units, which will be in harmony with the original window designs as part of its plan to achieve BREEAM Excellent rating, reported Constructionenquirer.com.
The building is located in a conservation area opposite the Grade I listed St Olave’s Church.
