US-based commercial real estate developer The Robert Green Company and Fifth Avenue Landing have jointly submitted a proposal to the Port of San Diego for construction of 5th Avenue Landing as a convention centre hotel development in California.
Ground lease for the six acres of land, on which the convention centre will be developed, has been held by Fifth Avenue Landing for more than 30 years.

To be built along the San Diego Bayfront, the project has been planned to include an 831-room convention centre hotel and a 565-bed shared lodging hotel.
Plans for the development, which will be set up between the San Diego Convention Centre and the San Diego Bay, also include an expanded marina, new public open space, and viewing plazas for all the city residents and visitors.
The Robert Green Company president Robert Green said: "The opportunity to build a world-class hotel on San Diego’s Bay and provide the public with new, high-quality open space is an exciting opportunity for our company."
Designs for the project have been drawn up by Gensler Architects and will be previewed by the Board of Port Commissioners for conceptual approval within the following two months.
Highlights of the design include public accessibility, which facilitates connection from Downtown to the Bay.
The developers will also be constructing a new bridge linking the convention centre public viewing platforms and new plazas along San Diego Bay, The Robert Green Company said.
