Cornell University has revealed plans for its New York City Tech Campus on Roosevelt Island, which is expected be self sufficient in energy use.
The campus has been designed by architecture and engineering firm Skidmore, Owings & Merrill while the landscaping plan has been prepared by James Corner Field Operations.

Four acres of solar panels and 500 geothermal wells will generate all the energy the campus needs.
The main academic building will maximise the use of natural light and employ controlled ventilation.
The landscaping of the facility is also expected to incorporate green elements like rain gardens and bioswales, green walls and roofs and reforestation to create a small, new urban forest.
The NYC Tech Campus plan features more than 500,000ft2 of green space, offering views of the Manhattan and Queens waterfronts.
