COBE has been selected to develop Paper Island, also known as Chriatiansholm, in Copenhagen’s inner harbour.
Located next to the Opera House and The Royal Playhouse, Paper Island is an artificial island that is spread over an area of around 29,000m².

In April last year, CPH City & Port Development invited proposals for the redevelopment of the island, which previously stored huge rolls of newsprint for the Danish press.
COBE, along with Inside Outside, Transsolar and Via Trafik, will develop new halls that offer space for informal and public functions, as well as a swimming pool.
Private housing will be placed on top of the halls surrounding a green and private courtyard, COBE said in a statement.
COBE commented: "In recent years, the island has become an urban destination in Copenhagen, with a vibrant street life that welcomes citizens and guests inside old industrial warehouses and makes up a unique and versatile setting for multiple cultural activities."

By GlobalDataCOBE creative director Dan Stubbergaard was quoted by Dezeen as saying: "Our vision for the island’s future is to create a place that celebrates the city’s culture and the Copenhagen way of life.
"It was important for us that Christiansholm also in future will be a first class example of Copenhagen’s generous urban living that can attract tourists and visitors, at the same time has a strong local presence."
COBE recently inaugurated a kindergarten in Copenhagen and has won a competition to design a 25000m² office building for PFA Ejendomme in Copenhagen’s Nordhavnen area.
