Bristol City Council, UK, has shortlisted five contractors for the entertainment venue Bristol Arena development project, which is expected to cost more than £90m.
The selected developers taking part in the council’s tender process are: BAM Construction, Bouygues UK, Sir Robert McAlpine, Laing O’Rourke and Buckingham Group Contracting.

The firms are expected to submit their bids by 18 December, with the council announcing the winner in February 2016.
The arena is intended to be developed into a world class entertainment venue beside the Temple Meads railway station, and will have the capacity to hold 12,000 people.
Plans and design for the development have been prepared by Populous along architects Feilden Clegg Bradley, and engineering firm BuroHappold.
Bristol Mayor George Ferguson said: "This is the next key milestone in the arena programme and takes us one step closer to delivery.

Pre-planning public consultation process for the project recently closed.
Two planning applications are expected to be submitted soon, with one specifying details about the arena venue and access and the other indicating outlines for the future development of housing, business and leisure facilities beside the venue.
Bristol is likely to borrow £53m for the project against its City Deal and expects to raise another £38m from the arena operator and car parking income, reports Construction Enquirer.
