US-based Chu+Gooding Architects has become a part of the primary design team responsible for the $350m Los Angeles Convention Center renovation project.
The firm, which is led by Woodbury University School of Architecture professor Annie Chu, had collaborated with three other companies for the proposed redesign, namely Populous, HMC Architects and OLIN.

The collective’s design presented for the project reflects placemaking, forward-thinking functionality, and authenticity of experience.
C+G associate Andrea Dietz assisted Annie Chu for the design works of the project, while Woodbury University School of Architecture adjunct faculty member Yilip Kang contributed to the three interior renderings for the competition phase of the planned renovation.
Chu said: "Together with my partners, Andrea and I worked on the competition, using interior architecture as a bridge to collaborate on such a large-scale project.
"Through his firm, Nephew, Yilip and his partners helped tremendously with our three interior renderings.

The city had planned to renovate the ageing convention centre to tackle competition with other cities.
While San Francisco and San Diego respectively host 52 and 75 conventions a year on average, Los Angeles has recorded only 22 major conventions.
Los Angeles Department of Convention and Tourism Development executive director Robert R ‘Bud’ Ovrom previously said: "This is a tremendous opportunity for the city to maximise the economic benefits that the Convention Center brings to our city, our tourism industry and to local businesses."
