Australian construction company CASC has secured a $30m contract to supply formwork and concrete for the proposed multi-sport Perth Stadium to be built in Burswood by a consortium led by Brookfield Multiplex.
Western Australia Sport and Recreation Minister Mia Davies said: "The stadium is already drawing benefits for the local economy and this contract alone is expected to create more than 80 new jobs.

"More than 100 tenders will be awarded during the stadium’s three-year construction phase and with 5,700 workers expected to be involved, West Australians are not only getting a world-class facility, there is also huge benefits to the local economy and employment opportunities."
Perth Stadium will have a 60,000-seat capacity and is said to be an example of the State Government’s transformational building programme for Perth.
CASC, the contracting division of Redcliffe-based Global Construction Services will be on the Burswood site for around one year and plans to commence work within weeks, involving the provision of formwork, concrete supply, concrete pumping, as well as concrete placement.
The first concrete slab is expected to be poured in the middle of this year.
Construction of the five-level stadium structure began in December and will be built using more than 10,000t of structural steel and more than 52,000m³ of concrete, to a height of 42m.
In addition to design, build, partially finance and maintaining the new Perth Stadium, Brookfield Multiplex will also source and secure the procurement packages for the stadium’s construction phase.
The project, which may see the seating capacity rise to 80,000, is scheduled to open in 2018.
