A consortium has won a $125m contract from Thanlyin Estate Development to design and construction a new phase of Star City in the suburbs of Yangon, capital of Myanmar.
The group consists of of Bouygues Construction subsidiary Dragages Singapore and SPA Project Management.
Bouygues Bâtiment International executive vice-president for Southern Asia Ludwig Reichhold said: "Following on from an initial contract awarded in 2013, this latest success will reinforce our long-term commitment to Myanmar, which includes an initiative to provide training for local employees."
As part of Star City project’s next phase, six residential buildings, including 956 apartments, will be designed and constructed.
Of these, four buildings will rise 82m-high with 25 storeys and the other two will be 91m-high with 28 storeys.
The contract, which Bouygues has a share of about €65m, also accounts for construction of a two-storey car park and a local community building, as well as the development of green spaces, a swimming pool and a leisure activity area.
Work on the project has started with completion scheduled for three years.
Dragages Singapore and SPA Project Management for Thanlyin Estate Development have already delivered the initial phase of the Star City project, which comprises five residential buildings.
During this phase, prefabricated elements and steel formwork systems have been put in place for construction.
The latest contract is said to illustrate Bouygues’ growth in the Asia-Pacific region.
