The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has selected Denmark-based architectural firm 3XN to design its new headquarters.
The first renderings of the project, called ‘Olympic Unity House’ and located on a 24,000m² site on the banks of Lake Geneva in Lausanne, Switzerland, have been released by the IOC and 3XN.
3XN senior partner Jan Ammundsen said: "In recognition of the symbolism of the Games and needs of the organisation, we designed the new IOC headquarters around three key elements, movement, flexibility and sustainability.
"With its dynamic, undulating façade, the building will appear different from all angles and convey the energy of an athlete in motion."
The interior of the building has been designed with minimal structural constraints and the open and flexible environment will adapt to multiple work styles.
It features energy efficient systems, including lake water pumping, photovoltaics and daylight optimisation.

IOC director general Christophe De Kepper said: "The IOC session was presented today with an architectural project that will allow the IOC to benefit from a modern, functional and sustainable working environment.
"At a time when we are speaking about the future of the Olympic movement with Olympic Agenda 2020, Olympic Unity House is a bridge between the roots of the IOC in Lausanne and our vision for the future."
