Mawani, also called the Saudi Ports Authority, has extended the deadline for submission of bids by a week to 14 June for the main works package at King Abdulaziz Port in Dammam city.

The main works package is related to the upgrade of Terminals 1 and 2 at the port, reported Arab News.

King Abdulaziz Port serves as an eastern maritime gateway and a key port on the Arabian Gulf for Saudi Arabia.

Initially the deadline to submit bid was set for 10 May but later it was pushed to 31 May and then to 7 June.

The main works package for Terminal 1 covers repair and renovation of 480m long berths, quay pavement and renovation of buildings.

The work on Terminal 2 involves construction of a 225m long quay wall with a draft of 16m, besides infrastructure work.

Some of the contractors who have submitted their bids include Saudi Arabia’s Ansab General Contracting, and Huta Marina, and China Harbor Engineering, according to a MEED report.

Among the other contractors involved in the bid include Saudi Araban-Greece consortium Archirodon Saudi Arabia, Austria-German consortium Strabag/Dywidag, and Saudi Arabian-Belgium consortium Al-Bawani/Besix.
