Developer Jack Dougherty has submitted planning application to the St. Pete Development Review Commission for a new mixed-use project in Skyway Marina district, Florida, the US.

The new mixed-use development, named Marina Beach, will be constructed at 4311 34th Street South.

Plans for the eight-storey building will include 400 residential units, a 4,500ft2 restaurant, a 2,400ft2 bank with a drive-thru, and a 95,000ft2 self-storage facility.

The project site is currently owned by Maximo Plaza and it is under contract for purchase by Jack Dougherty of Allied Group.

The bank will be built on the northeast corner of the property and the self-storage facility containing 750 storage units will occupy the southeastern portion of the site. The self-storage facility will be managed by LifeStorage.

Marina Beach is located adjacent to the 245-unit Marina Walk apartment complex, which is being developed by Allied Group.

St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Kriseman is quoted by Stpeterising.com as saying: “The Skyway Marina District continues to be a hotbed of opportunity.

“We’re thankful for those investing there and for those planning to live in the residential units coming online throughout the district.

“Soon we’ll see more commerce and restaurants, and just an overall sense of place will be established as we imagined it would be so many years ago.”

Recently, Swerdlow Group started construction of a $300m Sawyer’s Walk mixed-use development in Miami, Florida, the US.

The 1.4 million ft2 mixed-use development, adjacent to downtown Miami’s Brickell district, will include 250,000ft2 of retail space and 578 affordable apartment units for low-income seniors.
