
UK-based construction services firm ISG has won an order to fit-out the UK Government hub at the Arena Central area of Birmingham.
The hub will house HM Revenue & Customs’ Birmingham Regional Centre along with civil servants from the Valuation Office Agency (VOA) and Department of Work and Pensions (DWP).
ISG said that the latest contract award follows its appointment to a similar project in Cardiff, which also procured through the Government Hubs Fit-Out Framework programme.
Under the new contract, the construction services firm will fit-out the newly built 14-storey building.
The circa 240,000ft² fit-out includes the delivery of majority open plan office accommodation, meeting room suites and cellular offices.
Furthermore, ISG will extend the fit-out to a basement car park and new public amenity area.

By GlobalDataISG said that the modern design and layout allow the teams located in different located to come together, supporting the government’s aim to streamline operations.
Work on the project will begin in November 2020, with completion scheduled for autumn 2021.
ISG’s Midlands regional director Wayne Flannery said: “HMRC has an ambitious programme to future-proof its physical estate and optimise its office space to meet growing digitalisation demands.
“By adopting a framework procurement approach, HMRC has recognised the significant benefits of early contractor engagement and active collaboration to explore and implement the most efficient delivery programmes for these key regional hubs.”
The Government Hubs Fit-Out Framework programme aims to reduce the number of buildings that are in use from around 800 to circa 200 by 2023.
