Granite has received construction contract worth around $17m from the Placer County Water Agency (PCWA) in California to improve Duncan Creek Diversion Dam near Foresthill.

The dam is one of the many older, small dams in Sierra Nevada Mountains of Northern California.

The Duncan Creek dam will be improved to meet the present standards as required by the California Department of Water Resources Division of Safety of Dams.

This contract is expected to be recorded by the company in its order book of Q3 2022.

Among the project updates include creating a new pneumatic gate structure to boost downstream sediment delivery, adding new piping and gate controls to cope with instream flows, adding new gates and structures for pulse flow capacity, and constructing a new concrete structure and intake bay comprising a fish screening facility to prevent entrainment and offer downstream fish stream passage.

Furthermore, the project features installation of micro-hydropower units to offer power to new equipment controls and communication.
