Eiffage Construction, in partnership with Archigroup, has secured a design-construction contract for the Digital Region Campus renovation project in Charbonnières-les-Bains, France.

The Digital Region Campus is set to undergo a renovation of its main historic building.

Eiffage Construction will serve as the general contractor while Archigroup will be the architect for the project.

The project, spanning three levels and covering a total surface area of 4,500m², was initiated following a call for tenders launched by the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region in early 2023.

The campus, a hub for education, training, and digital innovation, reflects the region’s ambition to be a digital leader.

The renovation will focus on preserving the architectural heritage of the historic building that has been unused since 2011 while modernising the facility.

The amphitheatre, designed for the former Deliberations Hall, will offer an immersive 360° experience with 450 seats.

Insulation improvements will be made while the gallery will be redesigned, with part of the mezzanine to be removed to create an open, light-filled space.

The site’s southern section will see a redeveloped staircase, ensuring fire safety compliance.

This renovation aligns with environmental goals, adhering to RT Rénovation standards and the tertiary decree threshold 2030, targeting a maximum consumption of 74kWh per square metre annually.

Eiffage will retain existing elements such as stone floors and stairs, as well as reuse one tonne of wooden panels, furniture, and stone cladding.

Last month, Eiffage was selected as the general contractor to undertake the renovation programme of the Le Star cinema in Cannes, France.

The project is aimed at revitalising the venue, incorporating modern infrastructure while maintaining its architectural legacy.
