Services company Bravida has selected global consulting group Cowi to plan the installations, as well as electrical and HVAC systems, in the 245m-tall ‘Karlatornet’ skyscraper in Gothenburg, Sweden.

Set to be developed in a former industrial area adjacent to Lindholmen Science Park, the new skyscraper will feature 73 floors, 590 apartments of various sizes, a 350-room hotel, a sky bar and a public outlook spot.

The tower was designed by the US-based architects Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, and works are scheduled to start at the end of this year or early next year.

Cowi was part of the team that won the architecture competition for Karlastaden in 2014 and has continued to offer various technical services at different stages of the urban development project.

“It demonstrates our ability to gather the right skills and experience and to work closely with our customer Bravida.”

Cowi senior market director Henrik Malmberg said: “Now we are very happy to be involved in the actual implementation. It demonstrates our ability to gather the right skills and experience and to work closely with our customer Bravida.”

Bravida and Cowi will collaborate with project contractor Serneke and oversee project design, estimation and planning of all installations in the tower.
