Construction and engineering contractor for the US federal government Conti Federal Services has been awarded a contract to build a B-21 weapon loader training facility at Ellsworth Air Force Base in South Dakota, US.

The contract was awarded by the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) Omaha District and is valued at approximately $43.9m.

This B-21 weapon loader training facility is part of a multiyear development beddown strategy for the B-21 programme.

The scope of the project comprises the renovation of the base’s Pride Hangar, which was initially intended to store B-36 aircraft, into advanced weapons loader training bays alongside storage for aircraft fuselage mock-ups.

The development also involves the refurbishment of administrative, training, and utilities sections at the site, which will improve the facility’s overall operation and efficiency.

Conti Federal Regional Business development director Ryan Kanzleiter said: “This contract award win shows our commitment to supporting the national defence infrastructure of the B-21 beddown programme at Ellsworth Air Force Base and furthers our partnership with the local trade community.
