Construction work has begun of a new $16m cheese-making facility at the Agri-Mark plant in Franklin County, New York.

The new cheese production facility is part of a $30m plant modernisation project, which commenced in 2016.

This expansion project is will help to retain over 100 full-time employees and also support more than 514 additional agricultural jobs in the region.

The project involves reengineering the layout of the facility, re-construction of the 110,641ft2 manufacturing centre, as well as buying of new machinery and other equipment for the facility.

Construction of a new cheese production facility will help to improve efficiency of the plant as well as the quality standards of Agri-Mark.

For the expansion project, Empire State Development is providing $6m funding and $4m is drawn from Economic Transformation Program funds.
