UAE-based property development firm Arada has awarded two contracts total worth $255.6m (AED939m) for the construction of 986 new homes at Sharjah’s woodland megaproject, Masaar.
Abu Dhabi-based firm Pivot Engineering & General Contracting secured the first contract worth $109.1m (AED401m) to construct 421 villas and townhouses in Kaya, the second residential phase of Masaar.
Construction work on Kaya is scheduled to commence immediately and is planned to take 18 months for completion.
The second contract, worth $146.4m (AED538m), has been awarded to Sharjah-based contractor Intermass.
Intermass will be responsible for the construction of 565 townhouses and villas in Robinia, the third residential phase of Masaar.
The company has already worked on Nasma Residences and Aljada projects with Arada.

Construction on Robinia is planned to commence immediately, with completion scheduled to take 17 months.
Arada Group CEO Ahmed Alkhoshaibi said: “These two awards signal our determination to push forward rapidly with construction at Masaar, where we are seeing sales demand accelerate thanks to very favourable customer sentiment about the newly opened central entertainment zone and show villa at the community, which provide an opportunity for buyers to truly appreciate what the Masaar lifestyle is all about.”
The company stated that approximately 1,416 homes are currently under construction at Masaar, which was officially inaugurated in September this year.
Construction work on the first phase is planned to be completed by June next year.
