Acciona has signed an agreement with Norwegian state highway authority Nye Veier to proceed with the €390m design and construction of the E6 Ranheim-Værnes highway.
The work, however, is subject to Acciona securing approvals for zoning plans for the municipalities of Trondheim, Malvik and Stjørdal.

Since 2018, Acciona partnered with Nye Veier to undertake basic design work under the client-contractor partnership model.
The basic design work includes reducing the risk of unforeseen circumstances and optimisation of the road’s design to improve safety during the construction phase.
In a press statement, Acciona said: “Acciona will use local labour in construction and strengthen its commercial ties with local suppliers and companies. The E6 project will significantly boost the regional economy.”

By GlobalDataThe 23km long Ranheim to Værnes leg of the E6 highway is planned to be expanded from two to four lanes. It will also comprise three tunnels to improve safety and traffic flow.
Featuring eight bridges, the route will largely follow the old road, except the tunnels that run parallel to the existing ones.
Acciona expects the new infrastructure will improve connectivity in the northern part of Trøndelag County, in central Norway.
Work is also being finalised by Acciona on the €1bn high-speed railway line that will connect Oslo and the town of Ski.
Last year, a joint venture of Implenia and Acciona signed a contract worth €650m to build Sandbukta – Moss – Såstad (SMS 2A) project, a new railway line through the town of Moss in Norway.
The contract, awarded by Norwegian government agency Bane NOR, includes the construction of a 10.3km, twin-track line between Sandbukta and Såstad.
