The world’s largest data centre construction projects show how much capital is concentrating in a small number of mega developments. The top 20 tracked projects are worth $422.6bn, led by the US, which accounts for 14 projects valued at $287.3bn, or almost 68% of the total.

That concentration points to where the largest workloads, delivery risks and supplier opportunities are likely to sit. This is not a market spread evenly across many mid-sized schemes. The ranking is dominated by projects measured in tens of billions of dollars, where planning, engineering, procurement and execution capacity will be tested at unusual scale.

The largest project, however, is Brazil’s $37.4bn São Gonçalo do Amarante TikTok Data Center, followed by the $32bn Project Stargate (4 GW) in the UAE. The US then dominates much of the list, including the $27bn Richland Parish Data Center, the $25bn Frontier Data Center, the $25bn Tonopah Data Center and several projects valued at around $20bn each.

Project stage is as important as project value. Seven of the top 20 schemes are in execution. The rest are in planning, pre-execution or pre-planning, which means a significant share of the highest-value work has not yet moved fully into construction. That leaves room for activity across design, engineering, enabling works, specialist packages and construction planning before more projects reach site.

The geographic spread also deserves some attention. Alongside the US, Brazil and the UAE, the ranking includes Argentina, Canada and the UK. The US remains the clear centre of investment by value, but the presence of large projects outside North America shows that demand for data centre capacity is being pursued across a wider set of markets.

The main lesson is prioritisation. A relatively small group of projects could shape a large share of future data centre construction activity. Tracking which of them moves from early-stage development into execution will matter as much as the headline values, because that is where opportunity turns into committed workload.
