Construction firm Skanska has secured an £88.6m contract from Carillion to supply mechanical and electrical shell, core and fit-out works for 866 residential apartments at Battersea Power Station in Nine Elms, London.
The two-year contract is part of the first phase of the £8bn Battersea Power Station redevelopment project.

In May 2013, Carillion was awarded a £400m contract to oversee the entire first phase of the project.
The 866 residential apartments will be developed in two buildings between eight and 18 storeys high in the west of the power station building.
The buildings will also have a large communal basement and podium areas, featuring shops, restaurants, a gym, a pool, a spa, a theatre, office studios and a new six-acre park.
Skanska will begin working on the contract in September by employing around 250 people, and will conclude the works by October 2016.
Skanska managing director Martin Neeson said: “This contract is great news, not just for Skanska, but also for our client and eventually for those people who will be living in the newly built homes.
“Residential schemes are a strategic priority for our engineering business and this development offers an opportunity to build on our successful work at One Tower Bridge.”
The entire Battersea Power Station development site is owned by a Malaysian consortium of SP Setia, Sime Darby Property and Employees’ Provident Fund and the redevelopment project is being managed by the Battersea Power Station Development Company.
The redevelopment project includes the construction of around 3,500 homes and a 2.4ha park on an area of around 940,000m², as well as master plans for building two new underground stations as part of the Northern Line extension.
