Gas company Aramco has awarded a project management consultancy (PMC) contract to Technip Energies for the master plan of the new industrial city, named Ras Al Khair, in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

Several studies, including those for site preparation, best use of land, analysis of export terminal, environmental baseline, supply of hydrocarbon, involvement of third parties, modularisation hub, and the constructability of the area, are included in the master plan.

This analysis will aid in determining the programme's scope and conduct strategy for marine, civil, industrial, and telecommunication infrastructures, which will back the initial industrial projects proposed by key tenants.

The contract also comprises various PMC studies for the conduct of the Liquid-to-Chemical programme, a project intended at converting a sizeable part of its oil and gas output into chemical products.

This initiative comprises all the current Aramco downstream hubs and the Ras Al Khair region’s development.

Technip Energies TEN X - Consulting & Products senior vice-president Charles Cessot said: “We are pleased to have been awarded the PMC contract for the master plan of Ras Al Khair, an ambitious project that is at the forefront of Saudi Arabia’s vision for a low-carbon future.

“We look forward to working closely with Aramco to develop a comprehensive programme execution plan that will support the major industrial projects planned for the province, while also contributing to the kingdom's strategic goals for sustainable development.”
