Technip secures contract for Commonwealth LNG’s project in Louisiana, US

The contract award comes after Technip Energies finalising the FEED phase for the project.

Technip Energies has secured a contract from Commonwealth LNG for its upcoming 9.5 million tonnes per annum (mtpa) liquefied natural gas (LNG) facility in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, US.

A total of six identical liquefaction trains will be delivered under the engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract.

The trains will be developed by utilising Technip Energies' SnapLNG by T.EN, a modular and scalable solution.

This approach, which replicates a single design across all six trains, facilitates schedule acceleration, cost optimisation, and predictability.

Commonwealth LNG president and CEO Farhad Ahrabi said: “We're pleased to have reached this critical milestone in our project's development as we expand our relationship with Technip Energies through the formal award of an EPC contract, that also includes limited notice to proceed.

“Utilising Technip Energies’ fully modular approach to construction as compared to the commonly used stick-built LNG facilities being developed in the US will enable us to ensure first-class project execution with certainty of outcome on both cost and schedule for all our stakeholders.”

This contract award comes on the heels of Technip Energies finalising the front-end engineering and design (FEED) phase for the project.

Technip Energies CEO Arnaud Pieton said: “This project is pivotal in enhancing global energy security by ensuring a reliable and efficient supply of LNG. We are eager to leverage our world-class experience in LNG projects associated with our SnapLNG by T.EN innovative modular and productised approach to contribute to the success of this critical energy initiative.”

Commonwealth LNG is expected to make a final investment decision in the second half of 2025, with LNG production set to commence in 2029.
