The Western Australia (WA) state government has announced that construction has commenced on Stage 12 of Waranyjarri Estate in Broome.

Waranyjarri Estate, part of the 700ha Broome North master-planned community, has plans to provide up to 4,800 new homes and accommodate approximately 13,000 new residents. 

Located 2km from Cable Beach, the latest development phase is set to introduce 40 new residential lots to the community, including provisions for six social housing dwellings. 

The new stage will also include the first phase of Tanami Drive's construction.  

Roadline Civil Contractors, the company that built Stage 11 of the development, has been tasked with the construction.  

Stage 11 has five remaining lots for sale, starting at A$218,000 ($152,600). 

WA Lands and Housing Minister John Carey said: “It's fantastic to see the commencement of works on Stage 12 at Waranyjarri Estate, with 40 new lots to be available shortly, with six more dedicated social housing in Broome. 

“As part of Broome North, this development is creating an accessible, environmentally conscious community that will ultimately bring more housing diversity to the area.” 

Stage 12 is situated adjacent to an upcoming shopping centre and is within reach of Broome North Primary School and local parkland.  

Construction is expected to span eight months, with titles for the new stage anticipated to be ready by late 2024. 

Waranyjarri Estate is expected to house approximately 1,600 residents when complete. 

This comes after the WA Government announced the completion of the new METRONET Ellenbrook Station in Perth, the capital of the state, last month.
