Skanska has entered into a contract amendment with the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) to accommodate its hospital expansion project in Portland, Oregon, US.

The expansion project will take place on an approximately 50,00m², 14-storey hospital.

The OHSU’s board has approved $650m for use in the upgrade.

Works include framing and cladding of the exterior, roofing, fireproofing, and the installation of patient lifts, as well as long lead electrical and mechanical equipment.

The contract amendment is valued at approximately Skr1bn ($91m).

It follows after the company previously signed a contract amendment worth $111m with the OHSU.

Signed in April this year, that contract amendment covered the improvement of patient floors, parking, and mechanical and electrical space.

The company was also responsible for constructing three pedestrian sky bridges, roadway upgrades, and a new multimodal hub bus stop.

Skanska will register this new project in its US order bookings for the second quarter of this year.

Construction works on the hospital expansion began last year, with it being expected to open its doors to patients in 2026.

Earlier this month, Skanska secured several deals from customers for development projects in both the US and the UK.
