Nordic construction company NCC has been awarded a significant contract to supply 200,000 tons (t) of asphalt for the E6 Berkåk-Vindåsliene road project in Norway's Trøndelag region.
The client for this project is the joint venture (JV) of construction company Skanska and Syltern, a road building company.
The contract entails the paving of a 15km four-lane highway, which includes the base course, binder course, and wearing course.
This project is aimed at enhancing traffic flow and road safety along the European route E6 in the Trøndelag region.
This contract is expected to keep the company's asphalt operations in the region active for the coming years.
NCC Industry head of department André Waage said: “The agreement to supply asphalt to this road project is the result of good dialogue with the customer.
"Together, we have pooled our knowledge and experience to identify the best and most efficient solutions to ensure both high asphalt quality and good progress throughout the project. We are pleased to be entrusted with this task and look forward to starting the project.”
JV Skanska Syltern project manager Oddmund Hansen said: “We are delighted to have concluded this contract with NCC and we look forward to cooperating closely as we continue to develop asphalt solutions and perform the actual paving works.”
The commencement of work is scheduled for 2025, with completion anticipated by 2027.
The project is set to be registered in the third quarter of 2025 under the NCC Industry business segment.
In April of this year, NCC secured an additional 14 asphalt contracts with the Norwegian Public Roads Administration and various regions across Norway, including SVV Øvre Buskerud, SVV Nedre Buskerud, SVV Møre og Romsdal Riksveger, and others.
