UK’s National Highways has appointed suppliers to its £495m ($679m) Specialist Professional and Technical Service 3 (SPaTS3) Framework.
This initiative is set to deliver a range of expert support services across 26 specialist workstreams, enhancing the UK's road transport infrastructure over a six-year period.
National Highways' SPaTS3 Framework marks the latest phase in the organisation's commitment to maintaining and improving the UK's road network.
The companies - AtkinsRéalis Jacobs Joint Venture, Ove Arup & Partners, Amey, Arcadis, Costain, and WSP in collaboration with Mott MacDonald - will provide technical consultancy, engineering advice, research, and innovation services related to road transport.
The services under the framework will encompass geotechnical engineering, asset operation, maintenance, assurance, performance, design standards manuals and departures, environmental, highways structures, sustainability, and transport engineering services.
The previous framework, SPaTS2, facilitated specialist advice and support through the Second Road Investment Strategy.
Mott MacDonald and WSP have delivering key services since 2006, including contributions to National Highways' Net Zero Plan.
Mott MacDonald is set to continue its collaboration with WSP under the new framework.

Costain, along with its extended supply chain, will offer a variety of specialist technical engineering advice services, covering areas such as engineering, electric vehicle infrastructure, health, safety, and the environment.

Last month, National Highways announced a sustainable highway construction trial by Kier and TerrAffix on the A417 Missing Link scheme in Gloucestershire, England.
