Nakheel has selected Mar Marine & Building Contracting to deliver marine and beach works on Island B at Dubai Islands, the development off Deira’s coast in Dubai.
The contract involves upgrading about 3km of the island’s western shoreline and creating an additional 320m of beach frontage near the Bay Villas residential area.
The project is expected to be completed by the fourth quarter of 2027.
Under the agreement, Mar Marine will construct new breakwaters, remove existing protective rock structures, and form a new beach adjacent to Bay Villas.
The contractor will also refurbish several existing beach areas on the island’s western side, consolidating upgraded sections of the coast.
The marine works will support the delivery of Bay Villas, a 636-home community of villas and townhouses currently under construction on Island B.
In August 2025, Nakheel awarded a Dh2.6bn ($707m) contract to Fibrex Contracting for the main development of Bay Villas, while Mar Marine’s contract moves forward with improvements to the surrounding waterfront.
Earlier, in April 2026, Nakheel awarded Al Nasr Contracting Company a Dh527m contract for primary utilities and infrastructure works on Island B.
These activities form part of a coordinated approach to delivering the essential infrastructure and coastal landscape for the development.
Nakheel is a subsidiary of Dubai Holding Real Estate company.
Dubai Holding Real Estate chief executive officer Khalid Al Malik said: “Building on the infrastructure works already under way on Island B, the new beach frontage near Bay Villas and enhancements to the western shoreline will create a high-quality coastal environment that develops in step with the wider masterplan.”
Mar Marine & Building Contracting general manager Nabil Abou Rjaili said: “We are proud to partner with Nakheel for marine and beach works on Island B at Dubai Islands.
“This package combines new breakwaters and beach formation with the refurbishment of existing coastal areas. Our team will leverage its marine engineering experience to coordinate these elements and deliver the next stage of the island’s waterfront.”
Dubai Islands covers 18.6km² across five interconnected islands. The masterplan anticipates more than 230,000 residents living in about 62,000 homes, with over 11,000 hotel rooms and 4,000 branded residences.
Island B is being developed for a mix of residential, resort and community uses, including beachfront neighbourhoods, hotels, waterfront promenades and a marina district.
Dubai Islands is linked to the mainland by three bridges and is close to key districts, including Dubai Maritime City and Port Rashid.
