Expo 2030 Riyadh has signed a joint venture (JV) agreement with Mohammed Al Habib Real Estate Company (MAHR) to develop the Expo Village, a residential project for Expo 2030 participants and delegations.

The agreement, valued at SR3.2bn ($851.8m), marks the first such collaboration for Expo 2030 Riyadh involving private sector participation.

The Expo Village is planned as a purpose-built accommodation area, featuring approximately 2,300 residential apartments and the capacity to house around 5,500 residents.

The development will offer a combination of homes, retail and dining outlets, amenities and operational facilities.

The project will be well connected to Riyadh’s wider transport network, with easy access to the Expo metro station, King Khalid International Airport and other transport links.

The agreement was formalised at a signing ceremony at the Expo 2030 Riyadh site by Expo 2030 Riyadh CEO Talal Al‑Marri and MAHR CEO Abdullah Mohammed Al Habib.

Saad Al-Kroud, head of local real estate investments at the Public Investment Fund, and chairman of the Executive Committee of Expo 2030 Riyadh Company’s Board, attended the event.

Talal Al-Marri said: “The Expo Village will provide international participants with a high-quality, integrated residential environment during the event, before transitioning into a permanent residential community after Expo.

“In doing so, it will contribute to the long-term legacy of Expo 2030 Riyadh and create lasting economic and urban value for the city of Riyadh.”

Abdullah Mohammed Al Habib said: “This agreement represents a major milestone for Mohammad Al Habib Real Estate. We are proud to support the preparedness of Expo 2030 Riyadh and to draw on over fifty years of experience to create a comprehensive residential project that matches the significance of this international event.”

The Expo Village has been designed for long-term use, with plans for it to become a permanent residential community once the event concludes.

The development incorporates climate-responsive principles and efficient building systems to ensure environmental and operational sustainability.

Expo 2030 Riyadh indicated that this is the first residential project under a JV agreement, with additional developments anticipated as part of the event’s legacy phase.
