Belgian multidisciplinary group BESIX has reached a major milestone in the construction of the Triangle skyscraper in Paris, France.
The company finished the last concrete pour on the 40th floor, marking the conclusion of three-and-a-half years of concrete works.
The project has transformed a narrow 200m by 45m site into a new high-rise that will stand 180m above ground once fully completed.
During the construction process, workers used approximately 70,000m³ of concrete, installed around 2,000 columns, and placed more than 1,600 precast beams alongside several hundred beams cast on-site.
Concrete slab surfaces now total about 90,000m². Of the planned 8,300 facade panels, teams have already fitted over 6,600 units.
Currently, technical and architectural trades are fitting out three basement levels and all 40 floors with building systems and interior elements.
From 1 December, construction moved forward to the tower’s crown - the last four levels made from steel structure - which will complete its full silhouette on the Paris skyline.
BESIX serves as lead contractor for the Triangle project under Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield’s direction. The design comes from architect Herzog & de Meuron.
BESIX Engineering managed planning and logistics to limit disruption to nearby areas and will continue overseeing execution studies for both structure and facade.
Plans call for the building to include offices, a Radisson Blu hotel, retail outlets, a medical centre, daycare services, conference and cultural spaces, and an observation deck with restaurant facilities.
Environmental targets include Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Method Outstanding and HQE Exceptional certifications, as well as compliance with the Effinergie label.
Measures such as geothermal energy systems, double-skin facades, photovoltaic panels covering 1,000m², and district heating have been put in place. Recycled materials appear in elements such as aluminium facades.
The development is expected to create around 5,000 direct and indirect jobs throughout its timeline.
BESIX is coordinating with engineering companies Setec (structure), Egis (fluids), and Artelia (project management).
The final delivery of Triangle is scheduled for 2026.
