US-based Bowman Consulting Group has secured a construction engineering contract from the Will County Board of Commissioners in Illinois.

The $4.2m contract involves providing engineering support for a road improvement scheme in Homer Glen. It specifically covers upgrades at the junction of Bell Road and 143rd Street.

This project is part of a wider infrastructure programme valued at $24m and stretches across 1.8 miles. It includes complete road resurfacing and the construction of five retaining walls using both cast-in-place and block methods.

Modern traffic signal systems and substantial enhancements to storm drainage, including underground storage, are part of the works.

Bowman will oversee project execution through construction management, supervision and record-keeping duties. The company is also tasked with ensuring compliance throughout the delivery of key transport improvements.

New pedestrian walkways and accessibility-compliant kerb ramps are also planned.

The company has experience in handling large-scale transport infrastructure in Illinois.

Its past projects include work on the Mile Long Bridge and enhancements along the I-80 and I-55 roadways. Bowman stated that it continues to support development efforts across the state's major corridors.

Earlier this year, Bowman Consulting Group was awarded a contract by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (NDOT) to provide on-call preliminary engineering services.
