French engineering and construction company Bouygues Construction has acquired Vannoy Construction, a general contractor with operations across the south-eastern US.
The deal is intended to strengthen Bouygues’s status in the US market and support the company’s international growth strategy. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.
Vannoy Construction, headquartered in Charlotte, North Carolina, reported revenue of €873m ($1bn) in 2025.
The firm is involved in a range of sectors, including healthcare, manufacturing, education and retail, and maintains an order backlog with contributions from both public and private clients.
Founded in 1952 by Jim and Wilma Vannoy, the company currently operates from seven locations across North Carolina, South Carolina and Virginia.
Vannoy Construction president Mark Vannoy said: “This operation signals a new phase in our company’s history. Our employees, our clients and our partners can count on continuity above all else: there will be no change in the management team, the brand or the culture.
“With the support of Bouygues Construction, we have no doubt that Vannoy Construction will now have everything it needs to keep growing and to write a new chapter in its history.”
Bouygues has already completed several projects in the US, including in Florida, Rhode Island and Washington DC. The company now aims to consolidate its presence in the region, citing economic and demographic growth in the south-east as drivers of increased investment in infrastructure and facilities.
Recent Bouygues projects in the US have included Pier Sixty-Six and Palmer Lakes Logistics Center in Florida, as well as tunnel work in Rhode Island and Washington DC.
Bouygues Construction CEO Pierre-Éric Saint-André said: “This acquisition is a landmark in strengthening our operations in the US. It makes perfect sense, and I am in no doubt that it will help unlock Vannoy Construction’s growth potential and add resilience to Bouygues Construction’s growth model in mature economies.
“Along with the Vannoy Construction management team, we are committed to continuing the expansion of this remarkable business.”
Bouygues Construction’s reported revenue for 2025 was €10.6bn.
The group is engaged in activities in Europe, Asia-Pacific and North America. Other Bouygues group entities, such as Equans and Colas, also operate in the south-eastern US.
Last month, Montenegro’s Ministries of Public Works and Health selected Bouygues Bâtiment International, a subsidiary of Bouygues Construction, to design and construct a new university hospital in Podgorica, Montenegro.
